Her Story: Hope Easton

Can you take us back to the beginning? What are your earliest memories, and how do you think they’ve shaped who you are today?

Probably being with family, my siblings, etc. I think being the youngest child of 4 has effected me by trying to always be heard. And maybe that’s why I write and sing music. We also grew up in a musical family, My mother was a pianist and my brother is a guitarist, professionally as well as myself. We used to sing together a lot.

As you reflect on your life, are there any key moments or turning points that stand out to you? What made them significant?

Getting divorced was a big one, made me take my life in my own hands and not put up with manipulation and pleasing someone else. And when I sold my cello, I kind of said no to working so hard as a child into my college years. When I bought it back I started playing pop music and then writing my own music.
Who were the most influential people in your life, and how have they impacted your journey and development? Well probably my parents and my step father as he was in the Cleveland Orchestra ( I spent a lot of time with the orchestra, the members , going to concerts and playing chamber music. Probably my early teachers , Nella Hunkins was on the Cleveland Orchestra and she was amazing, I cried after every lesson, but we still talk to this day. And Alan Harris I loved a lot as a teacher. I also had an amazing gymnastics coach, Frank Marino who I adored. So those people left big marks on me as a kid

What challenges have you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?

I kind of think life is a constant challenge. Especially as an independent musician I have no stable job. So it can be exciting and scary at the same time. I never know what’s next.

If you were to pick a theme or a lesson that runs through your life story, what would it be?

Keep the Hope.

Are there specific accomplishments or milestones that you’re particularly proud of, and why do they hold such significance for you?

Probably getting my Fulbright Scholarship to the UK, Because it is not easy to get and a big distinction. And performing with famous rockers and on TV.

Looking ahead, what are your hopes and aspirations for the next chapter of your life story? What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I would love to monetize my music. I have had one tune in a film, just need a much bigger film for wider distribution, or TV.
